Nothing seemed out of the ordinary on the night of November 2, 1971, as 16-year-old Ronald Johnson was tending the sheep behind his family’s farm near Delphos, Kansas. That would all change within a matter of minutes, after a sudden rumbling noise caught his attention, prompting the young farmer to step outside—leading him to a face-to-face encounter with the unexplained.
This week, we examine the famous Delphos, Kansas UFO incident, looking at details that include photos of a glowing ring on the ground where the object had allegedly hovered, and how subsequent analysis of soil samples helped make the Delphos case one of the more unusual purported physical-trace UFO incidents of the era.
