Socorro UFO

On April 24, 1964, Socorro, New Mexico police officer Lonnie Zamora reported encountering a strange egg-shaped craft resting in the desert, accompanied by two small figures and bearing an unusual red insignia on its side. Moments later, the object reportedly lifted from the ground with a roar and disappeared into the distance. Investigated by the U.S. Air Force’s Project Blue Book, the Socorro incident would become one of the most famous—and perplexing—UFO cases of the twentieth century.

In this episode of The Micah Hanks Program, we take a deep dive into the Socorro mystery, examining Zamora’s remarkable account, the physical evidence investigators documented at the scene, and the competing theories that have emerged in the decades since. We also look closely at one of the case’s most intriguing details: the mysterious insignia Zamora said he observed on the craft, including the controversy surrounding its true appearance and whether this curious symbol might have held the key to solving what has often been described as one of Project Blue Book’s best-documented unexplained cases.
