In 1957, a wealthy Texas philanthropist and oil tycoon named Tom Slick Jr. was making headlines across the nation. Slick, who had already poured much of his family fortune into the establishment of foundations aimed at exploring various areas of the sciences, was now getting international attention for his plans to launch an expedition in search of a modern mystery: the famous Abominable Snowman of the Himalayas.
However, questions have lingered over whether there could have been more to the purpose of Slick’s Yeti-hunting adventure than the public had known… and this week on The Micah Hanks Program, we look at Slick’s possible connections to the U.S. intelligence community, and whether the CIA had been involved in espionage with help from the man who, at the time, had become America’s most-famous monster hunter.
